I have several important items to report this month.
First of all, it is with great sadness that I report the passing of long Board member, corporation clerk and facilitator for our popular Marlboro shows, Linda Cain. Linda fought a long and courageous battle with Cancer and passed away on November 10th. Surrounded by her loving family. I know we will all miss her greatly and will cherish our many pleasant memories of her.
Linda's daughter Lynn has stepped up to take over the Marlboro show in honor of her parents and to continue their long term commitment and service to the club.
Jim Siska has agreed to take over the Clerks position, as we are required to have a Massachusetts resident for this position.
Our annual show in Mystic, CT will have a new and larger facility at the Mystic Marriott, which is about three miles east of our previous location in Groton, Ct. (Specific information can be found on the SHOW PAGE and the CALENDAR PAGE) The dates will remain the same as advertised in the past. The major reason for this change is partly our fault as well as that of the Mystic Hilton. We were under the assumption that we were all set for 2017 but when we went to make our deposit at the allotted period of six months prior to the event, the hotel had sold our date and never bothered to contact us.
The bright side of this change is that we will have one large ballroom instead of two separate rooms that we had at the Hilton and we can fit over 130 six foot tables instead of the 95 at the Hilton. At present there is a possibility of having eight foot tables instead of the normal six foot ones that we have had in the past. This will be dependent upon how many new exhibitors sign up. (The room will hold 110 eight foot tables)
Our last show was held in Marlboro, MA, on the 6th.of November. This show was almost sold out and the most tables sold in some time. Thanks again to Lynn Cain for all of her efforts in facilitating this show. Our next Marlboro show will be on Sunday March 12, 2017. Our annual show is only four months away. 2016 exhibitors will have until January 31 2017 to pay for their tables, after this date all remaining tables will be sold to members on a waiting list, so get your tables paid as soon as possible so as not to be disappointed. For those wishing to get a table for the 2017 show, there will be at least 15 more tables available due to the larger facility, so make your reservations now!
